Malaysia is again discussing with Boeing the purchase of up to 18 F/A-18F Super Hornets. Boeing came close to sealing a Super Hornet deal with Malaysia in 2003, but the programme has been stalled, mainly for political reasons. Boeing says the Malaysian air force remains interested and it has resumed talks with the Kuala Lumpur government. US-Malaysian relations are improving, but Boeing thinks a Super Hornet buy is not likely in the short term.
