High Performance Aircraft (HPA), manufacturer of the TT62 five-seat piston twin, has relocated to Heringsdorf, on the island of Usedom in north-east Germany, blaming restrictive operating practices at German air force base Rostock, its previous home.

Powered by the Thielert Aero Engines 310shp (230kW) Centurion 4.0 diesel engine, the €450,000 ($453,000) TT62 is to make its first flight next May, to the Berlin air show. Certification and first deliveries are planned for the end of 2005. HPA says it has enough investment to fund the programme through to service entry. The TT62 is designed to replace piston twins such as Cessna 340s and Piper FJ100 Aerostars and targeted at private flyers, small to medium size companies and air-taxi operators.
