Hughes Aircraft has won a $5 million contract from South Korea to provide an electro-optical tracking system which will enable mobile air defences to detect and track enemy aircraft while maintaining radar silence. The system will be mounted on tracked, light-armoured air-defence vehicles made by Daewoo Heavy Industries. The system will combine thermal imaging and TV sensors with a laser rangefinder.
