Israel Aerospace Industries' board of directors has elected Joseph Weiss as the company's new president and chief executive, to replace the retiring incumbent, Itzhak Nissan.
For the past six years, Weiss has been the corporate vice president and general manager of IAI's Systems, Missiles & Space Group.
Prior to joining IAI, he served in the Israeli navy for 27 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. Among his final assignments with the navy were overseeing the planning and implementation of several major programmes in advanced missile and defence systems. He was also responsible for a programme to develop and manufacture the first Dolphin-class submarines for the service.
The nomination is pending the approval of Israel's ministers of defence and finance.
