Israel Aircraft Industries has released the helicopter version of its ultra-lightweight electro-optic payload POP (Plug-in Optronic Payload).
The POP is based on a plug-in 'slice' concept. The slice contains the optronic sensors, which IAI says can be replaced easily in the field within a matter of minutes, without the need for alignment or adjustment.
Design
POP is designed as a day-and-night observation system with a high performance Focal Plane Array thermal imager and colour television.
The payload is able to host various sensor slices such as FLIR, colour CCD FLIR and LRF (Laser Range Finer). Automatic video-tracker is an existing option for all configurations.
