Iberia has become the launch customer for Astronics' newest generation EmPower in-seat power system, with the Spanish flag carrier agreeing to fit economy-class seats with the product.
The initial programme covers the entire economy cabin, or 267 seats, of seven Airbus 340-300 aircraft, says Astronics, noting that installs will take place this year.
Financial terms have not been disclosed.
Last year Astronics unveiled its newest generation EmPower products at the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) conference and exhibition in Long Beach, California.
The system provides up to 200VA per passenger, USB power outputs, and the integrated AC and USB outlet unit.
"Selection of our newest EmPower products by Iberia Airlines is a testament to our innovation and the technology that we continue to develop in order to meet the increasing needs of airline passengers," says Astronics president and CEO Peter Gundermann in a statement.
Iberia already offers Empower products in its business-class cabins.
