What happens to aircraft when they die? For many, the desert awaits.

Hamburg-based photographer Werner Bartsch took the shots displayed in his "Desert Birds" exhibition (Hall 1, stand 1404) at desolate storage facilities in the USA's southwest.

Framed prints of his eerie photographs of decommissioned jets are available to buy at special ILA rates. Bring your credit card, though, prices range from €1,150 to €2,400. An art book is also available.

Visitors can meet the man himself - if he is not out snapping his favourite aircraft in the flying display. This, after all, is a photographer who seeks to combine his passion for photography with a "not-minor passion for aviation".
