In the first of several new senior appointments, Swiss has made Oliver Evans executive vice-president of its cargo division, Swiss World-Cargo. Evans was vice-president, global sales for freight forwarder BAX Global, and worked for KLM Cargo from 1987-2001.
Lufthansa chairman Juergen Weber is taking over the supervisory board chairman's job of tour operator Thomas Cook. Current chairman Walter Deuss, 67, is stepping down. Weber is deputy chairman of Thomas Cook, which Lufthansa co-owns with large German retailer KarstadtQuelle.
British Airways has made Dave Weston head of IT operations and Mike Croucher head of IT development and integration. The move follows the death of Peter Radcliffe, director IT delivery, whose responsibilities are being split between Weston and Croucher.
Southwest Airlines has appointed Bob Jordan to the position of vice-president systems; Ray Sears to vice-president of purchasing; and Robert Myrben, vice-president of fuel management.
Former Lufthansa Cargo man Hendrik Falk has joined Polar Air Cargo as its new vice-president sales for Europe, Africa, Middle East and India.
