INDIAN PRIME MINSTER Narasimha Rao has visited Kuala Lumpur to lobby the Malaysian Government on a bid by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to win micro-satellite work.
Antrix, ISRO's commercial arm, signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this year with a Malaysian consortium to undertake a feasibility study for micro-satellites. A follow-up to this project and Indian offers for further space-related work for Malaysia figured prominently during Rao's talks.
Malaysia is estimated by New Delhi to be ready to spend $500 million over the next three years on communications and remote-sensing satellites.
