Discussions between Japanese and European aerospace industry associations on joint research into supersonic aircraft structures and engines are expected to result in a $5.6 million, three-year project starting in September. The detailed negotiations on budget and research contributions follow the signing of a collaboration accord between GIFAS, the French aerospace industry body, and the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) on 14 June. The project will cover structural composite materials and engine noise reduction.
