McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed Martin have been awarded US Air Force contracts, worth $65 million and $48 million, respectively, for research leading to integration of advanced power-generation, distribution and utilisation hardware for an integrated ground- and flight-test programme supporting the Joint Advanced Strike Technology (JAST) project. Separately, the US Navy has awarded McDonnell Douglas Aerospace an additional $80 million to upgrade the AV-8B. The US aerospace firm also won a $315 million USN award for long-lead items for 12 additional T-45 Goshawk training systems.
