Kaman Aerospace has won a $2.4 million contract from the US Navy's Naval Air Systems Command to train Polish navy pilots, sensor operators and maintenance personnel as part of the Polish navy's SH-2G Super Seasprite helicopter purchase. The training will take place both in the United States at Kaman's Connecticut base and at the Polish Naval Air Station in G'dynia.
The Polish navy acquired four SH-2G Super Seasprite helicopters from the US Navy during 2002. Two aircraft were delivered with the FFG-7 class frigate the ORP General T Kosciusko in October last year.
The second lot of two aircraft is being used for flight training in the United States and will be delivered to Poland later this summer.
Kaman says that when training is complete the Super Seasprites will operate from the ORP General T Kosciusko and its sister ship the ORP General Kazimierz Pulaski.
