History was made on 15 September when a Tupolev Tu-154 operated by North Korean flag carrier Air Koryo touched down at Seoul's Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
The arrival of the aircraft marked the start of the first regular tourist charter flights between the two rival states, which are still technically at war, in more than 50 years.
Flights are being operated on behalf of a South Korean travel company that won approval from both sides to run tours to the North. Only South Korean tourists will be allowed to take advantage of the charters, and not those from the reclusive North.
Air Koryo will be operating 21 flights between Pyongyang and Seoul, while South Korea's Asiana Airlines and Korean Air will together be operating 19 flights. The tours will operate until 25 December.
