LanChile comes of age
In a reflection of how far LanChile's management team has evolved under the majority ownership of the Cueto family since 1994, two of its expatriate managers Kyrl Acton, senior vice-president strategic development, and Christopher Nassenstein, senior vice-president maintenance, are leaving, probably to be replaced by home-grown talent.
Acton, who spent 16 years at Aer Lingus, rising to become chief executive passenger services, and Nassenstein, a senior engineering manager at Canadian Airlines and Air Canada, were among several specialists from overseas brought in to LanChile in 1995 and 1998 respectively to help the Cueto Group develop the carrier. Now that much of the transfer of expertise has been achieved, the spells in Chile for the expatriates have come to an end. They are expected to reappear soon in new surroundings.
