Lebanese cargo carrier Trans Mediterranean Airlines (TMA) suspended all operations indefinitely on 5 August. The carrier operated a fleet of four Boeing 707-300 freighters and employed 460 people. In 1995, TMA announced that it would suspend 200 employees because of its deteriorating financial condition. Separately, Lebanese flag carrier Middle East Airlines has announced plans to dispose of four of its 707-300s, which it will replace with four newer, leased, aircraft. The move is part of the carrier's fleet-renewal programme, under which leased A310s have been introduced.
