Lufthansa has warned that profits for this year will be down 25-30% compared with forecasts it issued in April. Pilot strikes, a resulting increase in a pay settlement and a slowdown in the world economy which is particularly hitting the cargo business are largely to blame. The German flag carrier says it will post an operating profit of between €700 million and €750 million ($594 million - $635 million).
