National Airlines has concluded a deal with GE Capital Aviation Services for four new Rolls-Royce RB211-powered Boeing 757-200s, plus four additional aircraft from Boeing along with 12 options. The first of the new aircraft will arrive in January 2002. The airline is discussing financing for the other four firm orders and 12 options, which could be taken through a lessor or purchased directly from Boeing. World Airways has signed letters of intent to lease three McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 freighters on three-year leases in deals arranged by Curtis and Company. The ex-British Airways and Canadian Airlines aircraft are being converted by Aeronavali for delivery to World between October and next May. Scandinavian leasing company Chambers Aerolease has purchased two British Aerospace ATPs from the manufacturer. The aircraft are subject to long-term leases with British World Airlines. Emery Worldwide has leased an ex-British Airways DC-10-30F. The aircraft was placed by Curtis. British Airways has added two more Boeing 737-500s on lease, bringing its fleet to five.
