Iberia has confirmed the acquisition of three Airbus A340-600s, for delivery from June 2003 (Flight International, 14-20 May). The three 342-seaters will be acquired on five-year leases through Airbus, with purchase options. They are believed to be aircraft that were previously allocated to Swissair/Flightlease before that order collapsed.

Montenegro Airlines has leased an ex-Gill Airways Fokker 100 on 39-month lease from debis AirFinance.

Air India is considering offers from four companies covering the supply of two Boeing 747-400s on three-year leases. The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of July, to allow deliveries to start in November and December. The airline is also seeking bids for the lease of three Airbus A310s for three years and has agreed to lease three A310s from Airbus for delivery in September and October.

Thomas Cook Group has placed orders for two CFM56-powered Airbus A320s for delivery to its European charter airline arms next year. One aircraft will be operated by JMC Airlines of the UK, while the other will be flown by Thomas Cook Airlines in Belgium.

Nelson, New Zealand-based Origin Pacific Airways is acquiring two secondhand ATR 72-212s for delivery in July and November. They will replace a smaller Bombardier Dash 8-300 and will provide additional seating capacity on domestic tourist routes.

Indonesia's Pelita Air Service has concluded a deal with debis AirFinance for two Fokker 100s and three Fokker 50s, all on five-year leases.

Air Atlanta Icelandic has been contracted by Cordoba, Argentina-based Southern Winds to operate two Boeing 767-300ERs on flights between Cordoba and Buenos Aires, Miami and New York.

Alaska Airlines has ordered two additional Boeing 737-700s, for delivery in 2003, taking its total firm orders to 19, of which 16 have been delivered.

Aerosvit Airlines of Ukraine has added an ex-Aer Lingus 737-400 on three-year lease from International Lease Finance.
