Mexicana and United Airlines are seeking to expand their code-share services between the USA and Mexico, as Mexicana is poised to join the United-led Star Alliance next year.
United says it will place its two-letter prefix on Mexicana-operated non-stop flights between Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and Monterrey; between Denver and Zacatecas; and beyond Zacatecas to Leon, Mexico.
In a joint application to the US Department of Transportation, both carriers request permission to begin the code-share service on 17 December.
United and Mexicana commenced code-share services on 28 July 1997, and have implemented code-shares in several US-Mexico markets.
