Mexican low-cost carrier Interjet has extended its data link communications programme with the award of a long-term contract for Arinc's GLOBALink communications services.

The GLOBALink network provides Interjet flight crews the ability to exchange critical operational information with ground crews and host systems virtually anywhere, using Arinc's industry-standard VHF data link coverage.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

"We have doubled our business and our fleet size in just three years, and we know the importance of good operational communications," says Interjet chief information officer Adrian Pineda.

"With VHF data link we are able to obtain critical information for processing and feeding operational systems. We can analyze information in real time, use it to respond, and maintain permanent communications with our fleet and crew. Arinc and Interjet have built a strong business relationship, and Arinc is helping us derive the maximum possible benefit from our data link service."

According to Flight Global's ACAS database, Interjet currently operates a fleet of 15 Airbus A320s, and has orders for a further 12 with the European airframer.
