Russia's Kazan Helicopters (KVZ) is to resume test flights of the prototype Mil Mi-38 transport/utility helicopter over the next two months following modifications resulting from initial test flights.
Euromil has set out a research and development roadmap, says Vladimir Yablokov, director general of the Euromil company, including production of the second and third Mi-38 prototypes, certification tests, and the start of mass production at the Kazan helicopter plant.
"Certification tests are expected to be complete by 2008-9," says Yablokov. "The helicopter will be on the market right after certification." The prototype Mi-38 made its first flight on 22 December 2003. The programme has slipped repeatedly because of disputes over intellectual property rights.
