Motorola Israel (Israeli national pavilion) has revealed details of an advanced surveillance radar system for the protection of airports, aircraft and other high-value potential targets.
Following completion of acceptance testing, Perimeter Surveillance Radar System (PSRS) is to be operationally deployed soon by the USAF as part of the Homeland Security programme.
The system is designed to detect and automatically track any attempt to compromise the perimeter that it secures, and to alert the responsible security forces. It offers coverage out to 350m (1,150ft) over a full 360º.
PSRS comprises an 18kg (40lb) sensor unit and a 15kg battery pack, and can be unpacked and in operation within 20 minutes. The sensor unit also incorporates optical and other sensors, including video cameras.
