Gulf Air and SriLankan Airlines have inked a codeshare partnership covering flights between both countries and two Mediterranean cities.

Under the agreement, SriLankan will place its code on Gulf Air’s flights from Bahrain to Colombo, Athens and Larnaca.

In turn, Gulf Air will place its code on SriLankan’s Colombo-Bahrain flights.

Both carriers also signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Bahrain.

“We are happy to sign with SriLankan Airlines and increase number of direct flights between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sri Lanka,” says Gulf Air chief executive, Kresimir Kucko.

Vipula Gunatilleka, SriLanakan Airlines’ group chief executive adds: “It is part of our strategy to create and strengthen partnerships with airlines of global reputation in terms of quality, service and reliability and we have no doubt that our valued passengers will enjoy their travel with Gulf Air.”

Cirium schedules data shows that SriLankan operates a daily Colombo-Bahrain service.

Gulf Air flies daily to Larnaca and five times a week to Athens. Up till the end of October, the carrier operated a five-times weekly Bahrain-Colombo service.
