LATAM Airlines Peru will begin nonstop service between Lima and Medellin from 26 February 2018, ending rival Avianca's monopoly on the route.

LATAM will operate thrice weekly between the two cities with Airbus A319 aircraft. It forecasts that it will transport 33,000 passengers on the route annually.

Avianca offers daily service between Lima and Medellin, operating Embraer 190 aircraft, FlightGlobal schedules data show.

Separately, LATAM will also add two weekly flights to its existing route between Lima and Cartagena from 27 February. It operates four times weekly currently and is the only airline serving the city pair, FlightGlobal schedules data show.
