Budget carrier Ryanair is to enter the Armenian market, with initial services early next year from the capital Yerevan and the city of Gyumri.

Ryanair says it will open a link from Yerevan to Milan Bergamo and Rome Ciampino in January.

It will then develop services from Gyumri to Memmingen, near Munich, in summer 2020, and expand from Yerevan to Berlin Schonefeld.

The airline uses a fleet of Boeing 737-800s.

Ryanair describes Armenia as "one of Europe's fastest-growing tourism destinations". All the new routes will be served twice-weekly, the carrier adds.
