Sun Country Airlines will grow service from Portland in Oregon, with seasonal service to five cities beginning November.

The airline will offer flights to Las Vegas and Palm Springs on 1 November, operating four-times weekly and twice weekly respectively.

On 14 November, it will begin flights from Portland to Honolulu and Phoenix Sky Harbor, offering four-times weekly service on each route. Finally, Sun Country will launch flights to Reno from 16 November, operating twice weekly.

"The addition of these destinations allows us to offer travelers even more choice and value when making their vacation plans," says Sun Country chief executive Jude Bricker.

Sun Country currently operates to only Minneapolis/St Paul and Orlando from Portland, although Orlando is a seasonal route, FlightGlobal schedules data show.

The airline will compete against a number of carriers on its seasonal routes from Portland, with Alaska Airlines currently offering service on all five routes.

American Airlines operates between Portland and Phoenix Sky Harbor, while Hawaiian Airlines flies to Honolulu from Portland. Spirit Airlines and Southwest Airlines offer nonstop service between Portland and Las Vegas, and Southwest also operates between Portland and Phoenix.

Sun Country's expansion out of Portland follows announcements on 25 June that it will begin seasonal service to Florida from St Louis, Madison (Wisconsin) and Dallas/Fort Worth.
