Yevgeniy Shaposhnikov, the new general director of Aeroflot-Russian International Airlines (ARIA) is planning to prune the airline's management structure, by reducing the present ten deputies to just two.
One will be responsible for engineering and technical matters, and the other for commercial and financial aspects. Samat Jaboyev, a former assistant to the general manager of car manufacturer AutoVAZ, has been appointed to the latter position.
Former air force chief Shaposhnikov hopes to meet Russian premier Victor Chernomyrdin to try and win financial support for a major fleet modernisation.
