Rockwell Collins (Hall 4, B4) is to help the new Airbus A380 find its way around the world. The company has announced its selection as a standard supplier of communications and navigation equipment for the new aircraft.
The list of equipment to be fitted to the A380 includes Collins' VHF-920 data radio, HF-900 data radio and Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR). Also included is the VOR-900 omni-direction range/marker beacon receiver, DME-900 distance measuring equipment and ADF-900 automatic direction finder.
Rockwell Collins' MMR provides the aircraft's primary position, velocity and time reference and is fully compatible with global navigation and landing system requirements, including Instrument Landing System (ILS), Flight Suspension Message (FLS) and Global Navigation Satellite System Landing System (GLS) to meet current and future airspace requirements.
Kelly Ortberg, vice-president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins Commercial Systems, says: "This selection reinforces our position as a strategic supplier to Airbus. Rockwell Collins has a heritage of providing industry-leading communication and navigation systems and we are proud to continue that tradition on the A380."
