Private investors in Saudi Arabia have approached Saudi Arabian Airlines with a proposal to set up a new domestic airline using aircraft being phased out by the national flag carrier as new aircraft are introduced. The two sides are undertaking a feasibility study into what may become a joint-venture operation. A $6 billion fleet-renewal programme is under way at Saudi Arabian.
