Ameco Beijing, a joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa, has significantly slowed down its preparations for the introduction of Boeing 787s into the Air China fleet.
This is due to the delays in the programme and uncertainty over Air China's 787 delivery schedule, says the Beijing MRO firm's general manager and CEO Andreas Meisel.
"We were on our way and had all the plans for preparation of the 787 because Air China is one of the first customers," he adds. However, his company is "idling a bit at the moment" because the negotiations are still underway on the delivery schedule for Air China's 787.
Ameco Beijing's training college has workshops where employees can learn how to repair composite materials, he adds.
