Airbus is showing off its ACJ319 business jet at the Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) show near Pretoria, South Africa. It is the first time the company has displayed its top-of-the-line executive jet in the region.

The European airframer says its aircraft has the widest and highest cabin of any business jet, despite sharing similar external dimensions with competing machines.

The aircraft's interior can be customised to fit the requirements of the buyer, but the example on display at AAD was lavishly equipped. This featured a crew rest area toward the front of the jet, ahead of a well-furnished lounge area and lavatory, and to the rear a small sitting room, bedroom and a bathroom featuring a full-sized shower.

Airbus says the advantage of owning a large business jet such as the ACJ319 is that it offers the capability to fly non-stop to Europe or the Middle East from South Africa.
