In-flight mobile connectivity provider AeroMobile is seeing an average passenger take-up rate of 30% on aircraft where the service is offered.
Speaking earlier this month at the Inmarsat Aeronautical Conference in Vancouver, AeroMobile senior commercial manager Adla Hendry said that some 50% of the near one-third cabin take-up of its service is being achieved through marketing.
A joint venture between Arinc and Telenor, AeroMobile has been in commercial service for over two years.
The solution, supported by Inmarsat's aeronautical services, is now in place on over 40 aircraft with committed rollout plans for 300-plus aircraft. Emirates, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and V Australia are among AeroMobile's clients.
"Over 100 flights per day are now AeroMobile capable," says Hendry, adding: "Over 310,000 people have used the system since inception."
In addition to being a service provider, AeroMobile holds a partnership with Panasonic Avionics to support the in-flight entertainment (IFE) manufacturer's eXPhone solution.
The eXPhone offering is available as a standalone solution or can be integrated into the firm's X Series IFE. Panasonic recently revealed it has secured an initial customer base of five airlines for its Ku-band-based eXConnect solution.
All five have selected the eXPhone onboard mobile phone service offered under partnership with AeroMobile.
