Unconfirmed reports suggest that an Afghan passenger aircraft has gone missing in the north of the country.

The flight is reported to have been operated by Afghanistan's Pamir Airways, although this has not been confirmed.

Afghan local government officials are being cited as saying the aircraft had been en route between Kunduz, in the north of Afghanistan, and the capital Kabul.

Pamir Airways' flight schedule indicates that it uses Antonov An-24 aircraft on this route. The airline also has Boeing 737s in its fleet.
