Air France Industries has appointed Anne Brachet to head the company's airframe and engineering division.

Brachet was previously senior vice-president for engine overhaul, but assumed her new role in October.

The French MRO provider plans to reorganise its airframe maintenance activities, because the segment is considered not competitive.

Heavy airframe maintenance is to be increasingly outsourced to MRO providers in low-cost locations, such as Airbus A320 support specialist Aerotechnic Industries, a 50:50 joint venture with Royal Air Maroc in Casablanca.

AFI will also reorganise its line maintenance activities.

While she declines to reveal specific measures to cut costs in the airframe segment, Brachet says that the company wants to maintain central airframe maintenance capabilities in France.
