Air China reported a 13% increase in passenger traffic in November, led by growth in the regional sector.

Domestic RPKs rose 16%, international RPKs increased 7% and regional RPKs grew 23%, says the carrier.

Air China's regional figures refer to traffic from Hong Kong and Macau.

In real terms, the total number of passengers increased 16% to 3.4 million. Domestic numbers grew 16% to 2.8 million, international numbers rose 10% to 460,300 and regional numbers increased 33% to 114,300.

Overall capacity, as measured by ASKs, increased 8%, says Air China. Domestic ASKs grew 12%, international ASKs increased 0.8% and regional ASKs rose 20%.

As a result, the passenger load factor grew 3.7 percentage points to 79.3%. The domestic load factor was up 3.2 percentage points to 78.7%, the international load factor increased 4.9 percentage points to 80.6% and the regional load factor rose 1.7 percentage points to 76.8%.

In terms of cargo, total revenue freight tonne kilometres (RFTKs) grew 31%. Domestic RFTKs rose 26%, international RFTKs grew 31% and regional RFTKs increased 97%, says the airline.
