Air India Express is investigating an incident in which a Boeing 737-800 experienced a sudden loss of altitude mid-flight.
The aircraft was operating from Dubai to Pune on 26 May when it "lost some height", says the carrier, adding that there were no reports of injuries.
Some local media reports say the aircraft plunged more than 4,500m (15,000ft), but the airline denies this.
"The pilots have been de-rostered to enable them to participate in the enquiry. The matter is being investigated," says the carrier.
The incident took place four days after an Air India Express 737-800 crashed at Mangalore International Airport in southern India after it overshot the runway.
