US lessor Air Lease has become the latest customer to convert to the larger Airbus A321neo, having switched an order for a dozen A320neos.
The change has been disclosed in Airbus’s latest backlog data, unveiled during a briefing in Toulouse.
Air Lease had placed the order in May 2012, part of a batch of 36 A320-family jets.
Orders for the A321neo totalled 1,388 aircraft by the end of 2016, accounting for 27% of those placed for the re-engined single-aisle family.
Airbus’s backlog also shows that Avianca has converted three of its A319neos to A320neos, reducing the overall A319neo order total to 55 aircraft.
