MIAT Mongolian Airlines will receive its first Boeing 787-9 from Air Lease during the northern spring of 2021.

The aircraft comes from the lessor’s orderbook and will be on long-term lease to the carrier.

Cirium’s fleets data show that there are seven 787-9 jets in the lessor’s orderbook already committed to other airlines, along with four LOIs.

“We are proud to support the national carrier as it expands its fleet with the most technologically advanced aircraft to connect Mongolia with the rest of the world,” says Air Lease executive chairman Steven Udvar-Hazy.

"Our vision is to become a globally recognized Mongolian national flag carrier, and we are making a significant step forward by adding the first 787-9 Dreamliner to our fleet," says MIAT president and chief executive Battur Davaakhuu.

Cirium's fleets data shows that the carrier operates two 767-300ERs and four 737-800s.
