Inversiones en Lineas Aereas Internacionales (ILAI), the holding company created by the owners of Spain’s largest regional carrier and Iberia franchise Air Nostrum, plans to build a maintenance centre for Bombardier CRJ regional jets in Paraguay’s capital, Asuncion.

In addition to investments in regional airlines in Malta, Ireland, Argentina and Paraguay as well as in Spanish high-speed train operations, ILAI’s recently unveiled strategic plan for 2018 to 2020 calls for creating Air Nostrum Technic America (ANTA) in Asuncion, where it will build a maintenance hangar in 2018.

An Air Nostrum source confirms the plan and says that ANTA will "offer Air Nostrum’s technical standards in South America", adding that it will provide repair and maintenance services for Bombardier, ATR and certain Airbus aircraft and components.

Asuncion is also the base of Amaszonas Paraguay, ILAI’s joint venture with Bolivian CRJ200 operator Amaszonas, which has also incorporated Canada’s CRJ leasing specialist Avmax as a third partner.
