Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has opened up bookings of premium economy class to regional destinations, with travel to commence from 25 October.

This class will be available on all services to Australia, Denpasar and destinations in the Pacific Islands, says the Star Alliance carrier.

Although Air NZ has been operating widebodies on short-haul routes recently, the mix of aircraft flying on these routes has made it difficult for the carrier to offer premium economy as a product.

“With the arrival of the Boeing 787-9, refurbishment of our 777-200 fleet and exit of the 747-400, we now have a consistent premium economy offering across our twin aisle widebody fleet,” adds the airline’s chief sales and commercial officer Cam Wallace.
