Malaysian low-cost, long-haul carrier AirAsia X began flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu in Nepal on 3 July.

The airline operates twice-weekly flights on the route.

AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani says: "We see a strong tourism potential for the Kuala Lumpur to Nepal route and vice versa which has lead to our decision to start selling our flights online. This is proven with our 100% load factor during our inaugural flight from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur on 3 July."

"In the near future, we are also looking at increasing our flight frequencies from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu," he adds.

According to Innovata schedules, AirAsia X competes with Nepal Airlines on the route.
