Airbus edges ahead of Boeing with 731 net orders

Airbus recorded net orders for 731 aircraft last year, compared with Boeing’s figure of 668.

The airframer disclosed its performance during a briefing in Toulouse.

Airbus says it took gross orders for 949 jets. Boeing’s gross order total for 2016 reached 848 aircraft.

The Airbus net order total comprised 41 A350s, 83 A330s, among them 42 A330neos, and 607 single-aisle types.

Airbus delivered 688 aircraft – compared with Boeing’s total of 748 – and achieved deliveries of 49 A350s, just shy of its target of 50 for the year.

Its deliveries included 68 A320neos.

Airbus did not secure any net orders for the A380 but delivered a total of 28 of the double-deck type.
