Sabena Technics is building two hangars in Toulouse after Airbus expanded its A320 exterior painting contract with the French maintenance provider.

The manufacturer signed a 15-year contract with Sabena Technics to paint about 80 A320s a year in Toulouse. The deal follows a similar agreement from 2011, when Airbus subcontracted the MRO specialist to paint narrowbodies at its Dinard and Bordeaux sites.

Two paint hangars will thus be built at Toulouse airport. They will replace existing facilities and should become operational by year end, says Sabena Technics.

Airbus is co-operating with the MRO provider in other areas, including wing modifications for the A380 and maintenance for the manufacturer’s Beluga fleet.
