Airbus North America Customer Services tapped Goodrich to repair a variety of proprietary components at is Foley, Alabama maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.
Under the agreement the Goodrich Alabama Service Center becomes one of two Airbus-endorsed repair stations for structural components in the Americas, and is now one of three repair stations in the Americas that Airbus selected for work on proprietary parts.
The main product lines Goodrich expects to maintain include flight control services, and pneumatic ducting and access doors, such as the landing gear doors.
Goodrich and Airbus plan to jointly market the service to operators, and airlines now have the option of routing damaged Airbus proprietary components directly to the Alabama facility for refurbishment. The facility now has direct access to Airbus support and resources that includes technical data, engineering and supply chain.
Recently Goodrich pointed out that if US airlines shed capacity through the right-sizing their fleets, its aftermarket sales will remain robust since the company has less content on aircraft that are likely candidates for retirement over the next several years.
The Goodrich site in Alabama is part of the company’s Aerostructures business with headquarters in Chula Vista, California. Other MRO facilities included in the Aerostructures Group are located in Scotland, France, Singapore and Dubai.
