Allegiant Air will establish a base at Destin-Fort Walton beach in Florida, and add five seasonal routes from the airport in June.

The Las Vegas-based airline will base two aircraft at Destin-Fort Walton, which will become its 14th year-round base. The move will create more than 65 jobs, says Allegiant.

The carrier began using the airport as a seasonal base in mid-2017, after launching flights there in 2016.

Allegiant will add seasonal service from Destin-Fort Walton to Bentonville (Arkansas) beginning 6 June, Concord (North Carolina) and Lexington (Kentucky) from 7 June, followed by Evansville (Indiana) and Raleigh/Durham (North Carolina) from 8 June.

It will operate twice weekly on all the routes, which will bring to 21 the total number of routes that Allegiant will offer to Destin-Fort Walton. The airline will be the only carrier operating on the five routes, FlightGlobal schedules data show.
