Ameco Beijing has signed an engine power-by-the-hour contract with Shanghai Airlines for 14 Pratt & Whitney PW4000 powerplants.

This is the first time Ameco is providing engine services under a power-by-the-hour agreement, which will see them provide engine overhaul, repair and other value-added services to the China Eastern Airlines subsidiary. The 14 engines are from six Boeing 767 aircraft, including spares.

Ameco, which has capabilities to service PW4000 and Rolls-Royce RB211 engines, says it is also developing overhaul capabilities on a new engine type.

A company spokeswoman however declined to provide more details when contacted by Flightglobal.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that Shanghai Airlines operates a fleet of multiple aircraft types, which includes six 767s, five Airbus A330s and 58 737s.
