The World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) - which is rebranding as the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) - has launched the Passenger Choice Awards.

For the last 22 years, the WAEA's annual Avion Awards has honoured the best in airline in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC). As the organization rebrands as APEX, it has introduced the new and expanded Passenger Choice Awards to recognize excellence in the passenger experience.

"These awards will rapidly distinguish themselves as the industry's foremost honour," says APEX, noting that the awards "will represent the opinions of passengers around the world. And, by remaining independent, unbiased and completely uninfluenced by advertising spend, these awards will define a new standard of integrity."

Member airlines and vendors are asked to invite customers to vote online at www.passengerchoiceawards.com through 31 July. Airlines are also being encouraged to distribute information to their customer database, via print collateral and through their web sites.

The Nielsen Company is conducting the online survey for APEX.

Winners will be announced at the Passenger Choice Awards at the 31st Annual APEX conference and exhibition on 13-16 in Long Beach, California.
