Arik Air has been forced to adjust its scheduled operations after taking aircraft out of service to meet MRO requirements.

The Nigerian carrier says it has cut the number of flights it operates per day after an unspecified number of aircraft were flown overseas for "mandatory maintenance".

Without specifying the services affected, Arik has issued an apology to customers for disruption they have suffered over the last two weeks.

"We regret any inconveniences that our customers may suffer due to this schedule adjustment," states chief executive Roy Ilegbodu. "We are almost done with the checks and our customers will start seeing the effect with improved services."

Cirium's Fleets Analyzer shows that Arik has seven aircraft in service and 17 in storage. It has five Boeing 737-700s in service and four in storage, one 737-800 in service and three in storage, and a single in-service Textron Aviation Hawker 850.

It also has one Airbus A340, one Bombardier CRJ1000, four CRJ900s and four Q400s in storage.
