The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating a "severe hard-landing" occurrence involving a Malaysian Airlines (MAS) Airbus A330 aircraft on 14 March.

Bearing the registration 9M-MTA, the aircraft was on the Kuala Lumpur-Melbourne route when the incident happened at Melbourne Tullamarine airport.

ATSB says no injuries were reported, and that it will examine various aspects including circumstantial data, interviews and analysis of the flight data recorders. It has classified the case as an "accident".

Investigation is expected to be completed by March 2016.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that the A330 was built in 2011. The aircraft is owned and managed by Standard Chartered Aviation.
