Austrian Airlines will launch flights to Boston on 29 March.

The Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance carrier says it will initially serve the city four times a week from its Vienna base, but the weekly frequency will rise by two from mid-April.

Boeing 767s will be deployed on the route.

Cirium schedules data shows that no airline operates direct flights between Boston and Vienna.

From the end of March, Austrian will increase capacity on its Chicago route by switching to an all-777 service.

Two out of the seven weekly flights were previously operated with 767s.

Earlier this month, Austrian disclosed that it will discontinue flights to Miami and reduce frequencies on its seasonal route to Los Angeles.
